Leaving Publix

Meg took this as we were leaving the store this evening. Notice the nifty label on my sleeve! We went to get something for dinner, and we left fruitless, she said. I said that we didn't leave fruitless because we brought home blueberries!

How much??

$95. Ninety-five freaking dollars!! Five dollars short of one hundred dollars. That's how much it cost me to fill up my Yukon today. ~sigh~

Car Shopping

You know, it was just so darn hot today that I couldn't even think to take pictures with my phone!

Our car is 4 years old with 60,000 miles. It's a Yukon XL, so it drinks gas at 13MPG. It's a bear to drive around town, but on the other hand, it's great for long trips and hauling people *and* stuff when necessary. We call it our sofa on wheels. I love the thing, I really do, except when I fill up.

So, hubby and I have been talking about new cars. There's a lot of ifs, ands, and buts about the situation, so we don't know what to do. Do we keep the current vehicle, which is paid for, and just keep filling up. Do we get something new with a little better gas mileage (16-18MPG) that's a bit smaller and easier to handle?

We looked at a Buick Enclave, a Lexus RX350 and a Toyota Highlander today. So far, the Enclave is winning out. We still want to check out the Acura MDX, the Mazda CX7 and CX9 and the BMW X5. We have a BMW 328 convertible, and we really love it. The down side to the BMW is that it takes premium. So, while I may get better gas mileage, gas costs me more. I didn't think to ask about the grade of gas for the Buick or Lexus today. I would think the Lexus would take regular like it's sister car, the Highlander. I also think the Buick would take regular, too.

We could get something smaller and less expensive, but we've gotten to the point in our lives where we want certain things in our cars. Yes, they are just transportation to and from someplace, but we want to be comfortable and have fun.

Normally, when it's time to car shop, I don't even want to go to a lot unless we know we are buying in the next month. But, my cars are usually 6-7 years old at that point and nearing 100K miles. This time it's a little easier because I don't *have to* get a new car, and I still really love my Yukon. I don't have that "new car lust" right now, and I am actually enjoying just looking. Maybe it's because I haven't fallen in love with a car yet??

I'm not loving you, Google

Frickin' Google. I tried to sign up for the mobile picture thing, and the damn message locked up my inbox. So, now I'm working on backing up contacts, pictures and sounds so that I can do a hard reset on my phone. Ticks me off!

Edit: Oh, I'm TOTALLY not loving you, Google! The hard reset would not get rid of the message, so now I have to get a new phone. Going to the Verizon store was not in my schedule today!
Almost 10K

Oooo, that worked, putting the subject in the message. Now I just need to remember to do that!

I took this right before my husband's car turned over 10K. He was out of town when it happened. Our Highlander is about to turn over 100K. I might be able to get a picture of that if I pay attention!

ETA: Well, crap, when I edited to add text, it took away my subject. GRR!

Put title here??

Okay bloggers, help me! How do I get a title for each one of my posts?

Mare, did you send text with your pictures, or did you edit the post when you got home?
Gracie

This is Gracie the donkey. She's about 3-5 years old. We got her earlier this year after we lost our old gal Jenny. She was over 40. We used to joke that she came with Noah on the ark. Gracie is full of life and a real people lover.

Jacob

Oooo, cool! That was too easy!

This is Jacob, our new shetland pony-standardbred cross! Yep, someone made a mistake there, huh? Those two should not breed! But, it resulted in this perfect little guy - perfect for what we do. He's only about 13 hands tall. He's slowly learning what his job should be. That is Marie leaning over the fence putting Swat in the ears of Breezy so the gnats won't eat her up.

Inspiring

Okay, Mare has inspired me to photo blog on this trip! Since we won't be in parks, this should be fun to post things that you don't normally see everywhere!
